School groundbreaking
(WOUB) - Plans for a new middle school in the Nelsonville-York District are bringing people together.

The district held a ground breaking ceremony for its new middle school Monday afternoon.

Nelsonville-York School Board Vice President Gary Edwards says after 47 years it was time to build a new modern school with up to date technology.

Edwards says the new middle school will accommodate more than 300 children and bring all the district's students to one place.

He says it's going to be built in between the current high school and the current elementary school.

The new middle school is part of a plan to also remodel the high school and the elementary school.

The whole project will cost around $22 to $23 million.

Edwards says the new school will open in about two years.
