Proposed gas tax credit
(2007-08-20)
(WOUB) - A Southeastern Ohio congressman wants to provide a tax credit to people who rely on their CARS in order to work.

18th District Congressman Zack Space announced his plan Monday and calls the proposed legislation the Rural Commuters Relief Act.

It would provide qualifiers with a $100 tax break any month the regional price of gas reaches three dollars or more a gallon.

Requirements would include living at lest 30 miles from work as well as commuting to work a minimum of 4 days a week.

The legislation is scheduled to be introduced after Space returns to Washington in the fall.
