More Campus Security
(WOUB) - As Ohio colleges preparing for the start of the school year, campus security teams are stepping up efforts to keep students safe.

After the April shooting rampage that killed 33 at Virginia Tech, campus officials say they want to be more prepared for the unlikely risk of a shooter opening fire.

Security officials urge students to register their cell phone numbers so they can be reached during emergencies, and pay attention to procedures during fire and disaster drills.

At Miami University, campus officials are partnering with town police to increase the security force.

Police there say they'll also be focusing on more common safety problems like underage drinking, theft, and vandalism.
