GOP official: Pryce may not seek re-election
(2007-08-16)
(WOUB) - Republican officials say seven term Congresswoman Deborah Pryce won't seek re-election when her term ends at the end of next year.

The congresswoman has scheduled a news conference for Thursday in Columbus.

The Columbus Dispatch reported on its Web site earlier today that Pryce thinks it's too difficult to raise her daughter while commuting between Washington and Ohio.

The Dispatch says former Attorney Jim Petro and state Senator Steve Stivers could be candidates for the GOP nomination, if Pryce does bow out.

Pryce last year beat Democratic Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy in an election so close it required a re-count.

Kilroy plans to run for the seat in 2008.
