Strickland announces changes in higher education structure
(WOUB) - Governor Strickland is uniting Ohio's
public universities and community under one banner to focus on their common goals.

Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut outlined the goals in a speech today to Ohio's public college presidents. The Associated Press obtained a copy of his speech as written.

Fingerhut told the presidents that they must not think of their insitutions alone, but as part of a statewide system that embraces all of Ohio's four and two year colleeges.

Each college will become part of The University System of Ohio.

The plan reflects changes in the two-year budget that took effect July first. The biggest changes were a two-year tuition freeze at all public colleges and more state money to subsidize higher education.
