Area projects get water treatment grants
(WOUB) - A $21 million water clean-up project apparently is about to be approved for the Monday Creek watershed.

Senator George Voinovich says funding should be okayed very soon by Congress.

The Monday Creek project would involve work in Athens, Perry and Hocking counties, where coal mining has polluted streams.

Voinovich says several other southeast Ohio projects also will be getting money from Uncle Sam. Meigs and Vinton counties will get $1 million each for waterline projects. The Burr Oak Regional Water District Infrastructure will receive $4 million for a water treatment plant. And, in Lawrence County, $5 million will be granted for the Union Rome sewer district wastewater treatment plant.
