Strip club backers balk at demands from Christian group
(WOUB) - A group trying to overturn statewide restrictions on strip clubs says it won't change its name despite legal threats by a conservative Christian organization.

Citizens for Community Values is the Cincinnati-based religious group that pushed for the law that prohibits patrons from touching strippers and halts nude dancing after midnight.

The Christian group accuses Citizens for Community Standards of trademark infringement.

Sandy Theis is a spokeswoman for Citizens for Community Standards. She argues that the religious group doesn't have a monopoly on common every-day words such as "citizens" or "community."

The law takes effect in September.

Strip club owners are trying to overturn the law by collecting thousands of signatures to place the issue on the November ballot.
