Board reverses decision to release inmate serving life sentence
(WOUB) - The Ohio Parole Board reversed its decision to release a man who has served 30 years for murdering his wife after the woman's two daughters protested.

The women said they would feel victimized and unsafe if William Clumm were released.

Clumm was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, and the board recently approved his parole. He denies killing Francine Spain Clumm in 1977 and dumping her body in an Athens County creek.

After the sisters appealed, the board held and hearing where a retired prison guard testified that other inmates feared Clumm. The board then determined Clumm should not be eligible for parole again until 2017.

Clumm's attorney says he's served his time and the board's decision was swayed unfairly by the sisters' public campaign.
