Ohio first lady wants to promote glass works corridor
(2007-06-14)
(WOUB) - Ohio first lady Frances Strickland says she wants to draw visitors to a part of central Ohio by promoting it as a glass works corridor.

She made the comment this morning in Newark, at the rededication of the Heisey Glass Museum. It displays glassware produced in the area by AH Heisey and Company from the 1890s through the late 1950s.

About 30 miles away, in Lancaster, the region also is home to the Ohio Glass Museum and glass manufacturer Anchor Hocking.

While at the museum in Newark, the first lady chose one of the Heisey patterns for the official state crystal service of the Governor's Residence.
