Drug-sniffing sheriff's dog gets retirement after 9 years
(WOUB) - The Fairfield County sheriff's department is honoring its long time drug sniffing dog.

Rico,a 65 pound Belgian Malinois was bumped up to sergeant at a retirement ceremony yesterday.

Rico's handler and owner Sergeant Jerrod Collins says the dog detected hundreds of pounds of drugs and millions in drug money during nine years of service.

But Rico's age is beginning to show he's almost eleven and has developed arthritis.

He'll retire to Collins' two-acre family home.
