Wood County plant part of GE sale
(WOUB) - Wood County officials are hoping that a new owner will help the GE Plastics plant reach its full potential.

GE announced yesterday Monday that it's selling GE Plastics to Saudi Basic Industries Corporation for 11.6 billion dollars. The deal includes the West Virginia plant.

Wood County Development Authority President Keith Burdette says the plant's employment has fallen over the past decade. Burdette says the authority hopes the change in ownership will result in
more jobs.

Wood County Commissioner Blair Couch says the plant has an outstanding work force. Couch says the county hopes the new owner will expand its investment and hire more workers.

MarBon opened the plant in 1957. It became Borg-Warner Chemicals in 1963 and was sold to GE Plastics in 1988.
