Conley is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
(WOUB) - Donna Conley is now on trial in Perry County for the death of her stepdaughter.

It's the third time Conley has faced charges in the 1996 death of four year old Brandi.

A court official says a jury was picked and opening statements made this morning and the first witness was called early this afternoon.

The trial is expected to last about a week.

Conley is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

She was convicted in 2003 and served nearly two years of a 13 year sentence.

An appeals court let her go in June 2005 because of incorrect wording on her indictment.

A second set of charges was dismissed by a judge last fall because prosecutors couldn't provide Conley's attorneys with a grand jury transcript.

Conley claims her stepdaughter died of brain injuries after falling down stairs at their home in Saltillo.

But authorities maintain she's lying and the nature of the injuries proves it.
