Tower painting to cause some outages on WOUB's Ironton transmitter
(WOUB) - As WOUB's director of engineering Ted Ross notes, "there is no 'good' time to paint a broadcast tower." Even so, the station's Ironton tower is in need of a new paint job to remain compliant with regulations from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). And that will mean some outages on 89.1 FM in the next few days.

Tower crews began their work on Thursday morning. The work will not affect broadcasts on Saturday and Sunday. However, work will resume on Monday. Weather conditions may affect this schedule.

In order to ensure the safety of the painting crews while they are on the tower, the station's power will be reduced, or the transmitter will be shut down. WOUB's engineers will make every effort to have the station on the air when crews are not on the tower, and to return to service as soon as the work is completed.

We apologize for the interruption in our radio service during this necessary maintenance.
