Marietta College offers music sharing on campus
(WOUB) - Marietta College is offering students the opportunity to download and share music via the school's computer network.

The college has partnered with the Ruckus Network to provide students with access to free and legal music downloads through a multimedia network designed specifically for college students.

According to a Marietta College press release, Ruckus has already been successful at more than 100 colleges and universities across the country.

With the program, students can legally download and share music, create play lists and browse classmates' media libraries.

To eliminate copyright infringement, Ruckus has a licensing agreement with all the major international record labels, as well as thousands of independent labels and artists.

Illegal file sharing amongst college students has come to the forefront in recent months.

Ohio University students have been targeted since February by the Recording Industry Association of America for illegally downloading and sharing files using OU's computer network.
