OU Aviation students make threats towards classmates
(2007-05-03)
(WOUB) - The Ohio University Police Department is investigating alleged threats made by an OU Aviation student towards classmates.

Ohio University President Roderick McDavis says the OU upperclassman is accused of bringing weapons, including a handgun and knife onto airport property and into university classrooms to threaten students.

McDavis says the male student is also accused of assault and unsafe flying.

The allegations first came to light from an initial investigation by university judiciaries about a month ago.

McDavis says he first learned of the investigation yesterday.

But, he says these types allegations date back to 2004 and that several faculty members, students and staff have said that this student scares them.

In addition to the investigation into this student's actions, the university is also launching a probe into why it took so long to act on his behavior.

The university has suspended the student in question and banned him from school property even though no charges have been filed.

McDavis says the student is cooperating with OUPD and has turned in two handguns.
