Dancers to rally against strip club bill
(2007-05-01)
(WOUB) - A group called "Dancers for Democracy" is planning to rally a few blocks from the Statehouse today against a proposal for new restrictions on Ohio strip clubs.

The Ohio House is holding hearings this week on a bill that would require exotic dancers to stay at least six feet away from patrons. Also, nude dancing would have to end at midnight.

Columbus dancer Charity Fickisen heads "Dancers for Democracy" and says the six-foot rule is likely to hurt business and tips, effectively pushing many dancers into minimum wage jobs.

The bill being pushed by the Cincinnati group Citizens for Community Values has already passed the Ohio Senate.
