University lauches large scale compost project
(2007-04-25)
(WOUB) - Ohio University will be the first college or university in the state to implement a full-scale composting project.

Using a $250,000 state grant, the university will install a composting system on the campus that will process biodegradable waste into a fertile soil additive.

OU says the system is believed to be the largest one at a college in the United States. It will be able to handle up to three tons of waste per day.

OU already has placed bins in the new Baker Center marked 'compost' to separate out biodegradable materials.
