Wayne forest reopened
(2007-04-19)
(WOUB) - The Wayne National Forest has been reopened for the season. The Wayne is the only national forest in Ohio featuring recreational options such as bike, equestrian and hiking trails.

It also has eighty miles of trails for ATV and off-highway motorcycles, which are most popular in the Nelsonville area.

The forest's public information officer, Phil Sammon has seen a direct correlation between the number of trail users and the economic benefits to the local communities.

Passes to the forest are priced from five to 25 dollars.

Last year permits were sold to people from 42 different states.

The forest has plans to add up to 125 miles of new trails.
