10 OU students sued by recording industry
(2007-04-16)
(WOUB) - Ten Ohio University students are being sued by the Recording Industry Association of America for allegedly stealing copyrighted music by way of university computers.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the cases were filed last week in federal district court as "John Doe" lawsuits because the recording industry only has the Internet addresses of the computers used.

OU spokeswoman Sally Linder says the university still does not know which students settled and which ones are being sued. Linder also says many of the computers are shared by more than one student.

The Dispatch reports 40 other OU students agreed to settlements with the RIAA in February.
