Former minister, alleged accomplice reindicted on sex charges

(WOUB) - A former minister from Wood County and a 36 year old Wheeling man have been reindicted in a sexual abuse case involving a male teenager.

Jeffrey A Nolte was indicted Tuesday on three counts each of sexual abuse by a custodian, third-degree sexual assault,displaying obscene material to a minor and use of obscene material with the intent to seduce a minor.

Steve Richard Benyo Junior was indicted on three counts of third-degree sexual assault and two counts each of displaying obscene material to a minor and use of obscene material with the intent to seduce a minor.

Police allege that Nolte and Benyo had an improper sexual relationship with a male teenager at the Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Boaz between January and August 2000.

Parkersburg native Nolte was a minister at the church between August of 1999 and December of 2003.

Previous indictments against the two men were dismissed.
