Tobacco prevention funds aimed at youth programs
(2007-03-13)
(WOUB) - New programs for kids are planned by the Athens City-County Health Department using the latest round of funding from the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation.

The department recently was awarded more than $156,000 to use in local tobacco control programs.

June Ginther, a spokeswoman for the department, says the funding provides prevention programs for young people. Ginther says the money will also be used for adult cessation programs, including counseling.

This is the fifth year Athens County has received funding from a national legal settlement with tobacco companies.
