Ohio officials warn of spring threat from wildfires
(WOUB) - Spring is on the way, and officials warn that with it comes the state's wildfire season.

The Ohio Division of Forestry says more than 3,600 acres were burned by 760 wildfires during March, April and May of last year. Officials say the threat of fires increases at this time of year due to gusty spring winds, longer daylight hours and dry brush left by the winter.

So spring cleaners won't cause wildfires, state law bans the outdoor burning of debris between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. from March through May.
