Hocking College students ask for outdoor smoking spot
(2007-03-08)
(WOUB) - Some smokers at Hocking College say all they want is a place of their own with a roof over their heads.

Since a statewide smoking ban went into effect last year, students and faculty must smoke in their cars, which are the only areas on campus where smoking is allowed.

About 45 students and staff members petitioned the southeast Ohio college's board of trustees, asking officials to build a roofed structure for smoking.

School president John Light says the college used to have designated outdoor smoking areas, that students generally disregarded.

The petitions were presented to the board then turned over to a committee for discussion.
