Amesville to get new sewer system
(2007-03-06)
(WOUB) - The Athens County Village of Amesville will be getting a new sewer system soon.

Mayor Frank Hare says the final piece of funding, a community block grant for $600,000, was secured last week.

Another half dozen grants and loans make up the rest of the funding for the 1.3 million dollar project.

Hare says the town of 175 residents does not have a sewage treatment system and the Environmental Protection Agency has been after them to get one.

The plan does not call for a central treatment plant, but instead a series of septic tanks will be installed with three treatment facilities and three discharge points.

Hare says open bidding for contractors will begin in about a month.

It will take two to three months of paperwork before the contract will be signed.

Hare hopes to break ground in July.
