Police officer stripped of badge
(WOUB) - A veteran Athens Police officer is stripped of his badge for having sex with two women.

Brian Lushbaugh pleaded guilty to two counts of dereliction of duty in Athens County Municipal Court yesterday.

Lushbaugh admits he had sex more than once with two women he supervised in the police department's ride-along program between 1998 and 2001.

Lushbaugh gets one year of probation, a $1,500 fine and must give up his badge.

Rocky Coss was a special prosecutor for the case which was nvestigated after an anonymous letter made the allegations.

Lushbaugh declined to make a formal statement in court but his attorney said his client had 12-years of distinguished service with the department.

Athens Police Chief Rick Mayer says until now, Lushbaugh had a clean record.

Coss says Lushbaugh could have his record expunged in two years.

At that point he could re-apply to get another police certificate.
