Bank robbery suspect killed in shootout with deputies
(WOUB) - Authorities released the identity today of the bank robbery suspect killed in a shootout with sheriff's deputies in east central Ohio's Muskingum County.

Sheriff's Colonel Bryan Hoover says 51 year old Patrick Byrnes of Newark was shot to death yesterday after stopping the minivan he was driving and firing at deputies chasing him.

His passenger, who remains jailed today, was identified of Forna Graves of Newark.

The shootout happened on a rural stretch of U-S 40 about six minutes after a bank near Zanesville was robbed.

The two deputies who returned fire are on paid leave during the investigation.

They are Sergeant Pat Keck, who has been on the department for 19 years, and five year Deputy Scott Hamilton.
