Warden of jail replaced
(WOUB) - The warden of the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Regional Jail Commission Chairwoman Jill Thompson says Jeff Gillespie was placed on leave until further notice during a meeting yesterday.

She says the case is in the hands of the Athens County Prosecutor.

Prosecutor Dave Warren says he's not able to comment right now.

But, Nelsonville Police Sargeant Ed Kurtz says an investigation began yesterday on actions that occurred inside the jail.

Gillespie has been warden since April, 2004.

During that time, sexual harrassment allegations were made against him, but were found not serious enough for criminal charges.

The jail also faced financial difficulties and an audit revealed cell phone misuse at the jail.

Deputy Warden Jeremy Tolson has been named Acting Warden.

The regional jail serves Athens, Hocking, Morgan and Perry Counties.
