Labor dispute brings Eramet workers, families closer
(2007-01-23)
(WOUB) - A group of woman have started a support group to keep up morale as their husbands and other union workers are involved in a labor dispute with Eramet Marietta's southeast Ohio metals plant.

The company turned away the employees after workers rejected a proposed three-year contract in August. Negotiations have been continuing between both sides.

The wives meet twice a month at the union hall and have a dinner for the workers once a month. Families also bring in food other days to make sure workers get a hot meal, especially those sitting on the picket line in the cold.

Karen and Steve Brown say support from the other workers and their families has helped ease the anxiety and that they have made friends with many new people.
