Juveniles apprehended for train heist
(2007-01-16)
(WOUB) - Two juveniles are back in custody after authorities in Hocking County had to catch up with a runaway train early Tuesday morning.

Hocking College Police officers first noticed the train traveling west at the State Route 278 crossing in Nelsonville just after one this morning.

The officers confirmed that the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway train was supposed to locked up at that time and they discovered that the train station had been broken into.

About a half hour later, Hocking County Sheriff's deputies found the train stopped behind a grocery store building about 12 miles away near the State Route 328 exit in Hocking County.

The Nelsonville Police Department says two juveniles were found operating the train and taken into custody.

The two had earlier escaped from the Hocking Valley Community Residential Center in Nelsonville.

They are now in the custody of the Athens County Sheriff's department.
