OU wins; crowd celebrates in street
Athens Police say there was too much celebrating on Court Street last night.
It was about 9-40 p-m.
Ohio University had just upset Georgetown in a tournament basketball game.
Police Chief Ric Mayer says "rowdy persons poured out of the bars...and began chanting and blocking the street."
A-P-D put out the call for more officers before moving in to disperse the crowd.
In the meantime, a street light was broken.
An hour later the crowd was gone.
Some of the extra officers were Ohio University Police and the sheriff's deputies. © Copyright 2012, WOUB
