Tax Credits Saving Health Care for Small Businesses
(2010-04-19)
(WOUB) - Small business owners across the country who are in need of health insurance have a new place to look for support, their mailboxes.

The Federal government is sending out 4 million tax credit forms nationwide. Thousands of which are on their way to Southeastern Ohio.

The tax credit inniative, a part of March's health care reform bill, is aimed at small business owners who have difficulty providing health care to their employees.

"This is a group of people who have traditionally either been unable to afford coverage or have not had access to it," says a press release from Congressman Charlie Wilson's office.

Companies with 25 employees or fewer and wages lower than $50,000 qualify for credits that will cover up to half of their health insurance cost. Businesses with 10 or less full-time employess and wages below $25,000 qualify for credits equaling 35% of their insurance coverage costs.

Supporting small businesses, Wilson's press release also says, "That's why these tax credits are so important. Small businesses need and deserve the help as they play this vital role."
