Governor is proud of Bobcats
(2010-03-19)
(WOUB) - Gov. Ted Strickland says you can't help feeling proud for Ohio and Ohio University following the Bobcats' big upset win in the NCAA basketball tournament.

Ohio, the No. 14 seed, stunned third-seeded Georgetown 97-83 in the Midwest Regional on Thursday, the first day of the big dance.

Strickland said in a statement Friday that the Bobcats won with talent and "relentless spirit."

Ohio University fans chanted "O-U, Oh yeah!" in a celebration that spilled out of bars near the campus in Athens following the game Thursday night.

Police Chief Ric Mayer says extra officers were called in when rowdy revelers blocked a street.

Police say a streetlight was broken and one person was arrested
on a rioting charge.
