Farmers and food advocates meet in Athens for agriculture conference
It's a meeting of the Innovative Farmers of Ohio, and Leslie Schaller says three tours are on the agenda.
"The focus of the conference and for the tours is to really look at the innovators from southeastern Ohio, whether it's alternative energy, food production or processing," Schaller says. "So the tourees will get to visit with some of our more unique entrepreneurs."
Schaller is with ACEnet and ACEnet's food processing plant on Columbus Road is one of the tour stops.
Purely American Foods and the Wayne National Forest headquarters are the other two.
"Conference attendees and all the folks on the tour will get to sample an amazing bounty of local food and farm products from all over southeastern Ohio," Schaller says.
The Innovative Farmers of Ohio is a non-profit organization that focuses on sustainability and social and environmental issues.
