Update on cleanup at Pike County plant PORTSMOUTH, OH (WOUB) - Every so often the US Department of Energy updates the public on the environmental cleanup program at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

Extensive pollution occurred at the Pike County plant during the many years that uranium was enriched there for the country's nuclear arsenal and, later, for fuel for nuclear power plants.

Efforts to get rid of the mess started years ago and will continue for many more.
