COAD conference discusses ways to help low-incomers MARIETTA, OH (WOUB) - How can we do a better job of helping low income people, especially during this severe economic downturn?

That's the central question at a two day conference in Marietta hosted by the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development -- or COAD -- which is headquartered in Athens.

The audience included community action agency representatives from the state's 30 Appalachian counties.

One of the featured speakers was Fred Deel, the director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia.

The conference began yesterday and concludes today.
