(2008-09-24)
U.S. one hundred dollar bills are counted in an undated file photo
(wosu) - Many people in Ohio are grumbling about a
proposed 700 billion dollar bailout of troubled financial institutions.

Jeff Mays of the Columbus suburb of Westerville says he doesn't like the idea of the government messing in the markets, though he can agree with the plan from a practical standpoint.

Cincinnati area homeowner Bob Heglin says he stays current on his mortgage and isn't thrilled about paying for others'
irresponsibility. But he sees federal intervention as a necessary step to stabilize the economy and prevent more damage.

Most people interviewed across the nation by The Associated Press agreed something has to be done, even if it turns out to be
bitter medicine for taxpayers to swallow.
