Ohio State Welcomes 7,000 Freshman
(2008-09-22)
(wosu) - The nation's largest university is
welcoming its newcomers. Ohio State says 7,000 first-year students will learn about the school's history and traditions during a ceremony this morning at St. John Arena. The convocation will include a lesson on the words to the university's alma mater, "Carmen Ohio."

The Ohio State marching band will then lead the newbies down to the field at Ohio Stadium, where the students will see themselves projected on the giant scoreboard.

The university says for the 14th straight year, the freshman class looks stronger, academically, than any previous one.
Fifty-four percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school class, and the frosh scored an average 27.3 out of a
possible 36 on the ACT college entrance exam.
