Ohio State graduate promoted to Brigadier General

COLUMBUS, OH (wosu) - A 1983 Ohio State graduate pinned on another star Friday to become a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army. General Jeff Smith helps lead nearly 20,000 U.S. soldiers in Iraq along the Syrian, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait borders. WOSU spoke with Smith who is in Iraq. The general's primary duties deal with reconstruction and economic activities in a part of Iraq that is one-and-a-half times the size of Ohio.
