DHL CEO Tells Congress: Company Agonized Over Decision to Leave Wilmington
(2008-09-09)
(wosu) - A Congressional committee Tuesday held hearings on DHL's plans to move its air cargo delivery business out of Ohio to UPS. The move could mean the loss of as many as 10,000 jobs.

DHL-CEO John Mullin says the company is losing $5 million a day and the move is the only way DHL can survive.

Democratic U-S Senator Sherrod Brown says Ohio officials have heard DHL's explanation that the company is losing money, but offers to assist them with "creative solutions" are met with silence.

Another Congressional hearing will be held on DHL later this month.
