Potential Homeowners Look For Deals
(2008-03-18)
(wosu) - Many Ohioans are hoping to cash in on the slow housing market and become first-time homeowners. The Columbus Board of Realtors reports that 16,000 houses were on the market in January, the most on record.

The National Association of Realtors is airing radio and television ads encouraging people to buy homes. But buyers beware:
Loans are harder to get nowadays, and some lenders will expect at least six months' worth of payments upfront.

Lenders and private mortgage insurers in northeast Ohio also want to see credit scores of at least 680, on a scale of 500 to 850.
