Clowning Around with the OSU Medical Students
Clowning Around with the OSU Medical Students OSU Associate Professor Cari Brackett with a few patients. Brackett has studied under Dr. Patch Adams and has traveled with Adams to Russia.
WOSU Theater Critic Joy Reilly talks with Ohio State Associate Professor and Clown Cari Brackett about the connection between laughter and healing. Cari Brackett came to the WOSU studios with clown noses for everyone and a message about the connection between laughter and medicine.

Brackett is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Family Medicine. She is also a Doctor of Pharmacy. But she tells WOSU Theater Critic Joy Reilly that her other job is clowning.

The OSU College of Medicine has had a clown group for several years. Brackett added a group at the College of Pharmacy and the two combine about nine months ago.

In the spirit of Patch Adams, Brackett teaches her students to use joy, laughter, and clowning to connect with their patients.
