Ohio State's new "Urban Arts Space" opens February 5, 2008 in the former Lazarus Department store downtown.
Ohio State University Professor Lesley Ferris is co-curator of the grand opening exhibit entitled "Midnight Robber: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival."
Ferris talked about the significance of the exhibit with WOSU Theater Critic Joy Reilly.
Ferris says she is also getting ready for a "Carnival in Columbus" next month.
The Grand Opening Reception is "Carnival" themed and is Friday, February 8, 2008 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman and OSU President Gordon Gee will attend the event which officially opens the OSU "Urban Arts Space."
The exhibition showcases the work of Carnival artists. It includes photographs, costumes and a timeline of Carnival history. The exhibit also includes Carnival Interactive, a multi-media computer program.
