Storyville Stompers to stomp it up at WNTI fundraiser
HACKETTSTOWN (Jan. 8, 2014) - Mardi Gras will come to life when WNTI and PocoNotes hosts the Storyville Stompers Brass Band at the legendary Stanhope House on Sunday Feb. 23.
The WNTI fundraiser concert will have all the flavor of New Orleans led by the Storyville Stompers, recognized as the Best Traditional Brass Band in the Big Easy. Doors open at 4:40 p.m., show starts at 6:00 p.m.Started as a group of friends who had a love of traditional, New Orleans music, the Storyville Stompers have grown to become one of the preeminent brass bands in the nation, having played throughout the US, Europe, South America and Asia. The band continues to play New Orleans-music in the traditional style, a music considered the foundation for traditional Jazz and Dixieland.
Even if you are not a dancer, the Storyville Stompers will have you dancing!
The band is regulars at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the French Quarter Festival and have appeared on "Live with Regis and Kelly". With numerous nominations, the Storyville Stompers were twice awarded "Best Traditional Brass Band" by Big Easy Music Awards.
Some of the band's other performances over the past 30 years have included: the Macau International Jazz Festival in Macau, China; Kobe Urban Resort Jazz Festival in Kobe Japan; Carnival Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy; Guayaquil Jazz Festival in Guayaquil, Ecuador; First Lady Hillary Clinton's Congressional Luncheon in Washington, D.C.; the Sugar Bowl; and hundreds of events worldwide.
