DEATH VALLEY RADIO 765 June 16, 2013
This week's upbeat message, courtesy of Randy Newman: "There really is an afterlife and I hope to see all of you there." Death Valley Radio 765 features trumpeter Dave Douglas's tribute to his home state of New Jersey, clarinetist and saxophonist Chris Potter's new album inspired by Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey," and Norwegian pianist Ketil Bjørnstad's salute to Italian filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni. Also: new tracks from Vampire Weekend, the Clotilde Rullaud 4tet, and the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet.
