Click above to listen to an interview with Clarence Clemons & the host of The Boss Hour, Jon Lewis.by Jon LewisAfter listening to Bruce Springsteen and his band for over thirty years (my first records were Ennio Morrricone spaghetti western soundtracks and Born to Run) and finally getting to interview Clarence Clemons, I realized something. I was interviewing not only a huge rock and roll star, I was interviewing a friend. Clarence did not know me from a hole in the wall but he and I had quite a history. Sometimes chaotic, sometimes life threatening and even some romantic, the Big Man was there. Like the time I got my Jeep stuck in the mud "somewhere in the swamps of Jersey" and had to wait hours for a rescue with only the Jersey summer heat and Bruce and the band to keep me company. Or driving cross country listening to Nebraska, along with other BS & E-Street albums) as I drove Rt. 80 through Nebraska on my way to California. Or the time that is most unforgettable is the time on the beach on the Jersey Shore with my wife listening to a live concert from Stockholm, Sweden. A great day. After doing The Boss Hour for over six years, it was great to finally speak to the Big Man and ask him questions I already knew the answers to. How could I not? I've known the guy for over thirty years!
