A Conversation with bassist Norman Edge Coming Up on Just Jazz with Bob Bernotas - Sun., March 14 & 21

For more than five decades pianist Morris Nanton performed in clubs, lounges, and restaurants throughout his native New Jersey. For twenty-two of those years, the Morris Nanton Trio held forth at the Cove in Roselle. More recently, they appeared regularly at Shanghai Blue in Madison, and Nanton often played solo piano at the Quay in Sea Bright, where he gave his final performance on September 27, 2009, one day before his eightieth birthday. On November 15, Morris Nanton died at his home in Perth Amboy.

Last month Bob Bernotas, host of WNTI's Just Jazz, recorded a conversation with Nanton's longtime bassist, Norman Edge. They spoke extensively about the fifty-three years that Edge spent working alongside this New Jersey jazz legend and his great friend and they listened to many rare Morris Nanton recordings.

Bob will be airing his interview with Norman Edge in two parts, during the March 14 and 21 editions of Just Jazz, starting at 11:00 p.m.
