Antonio Carlos JobimSunday, February 8 (Postponed from Feb. 1st):
During his weekly "Just Jazz Presents..." segment (midnight-1:00 am), Bob Bernotas will feature the music of February Just Jazz Artist of the Month Antonio Carlos Jobim.
One of the greatest music-makers of the twentieth century, in 1958 Brazilian composer-singer-guitarist Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) gave the world the first bossa nova hit, "Chega de Saudade," as recorded by singer João Gilberto. Over the next three and a half decades Jobim wrote scores of unforgettable melodies - "A Felicidade," Desafinado," "The Girl from Ipanema," Corcovado," "Wave," "Meditation," "Once I Loved," "How Insensitive," and many, many more - that have been incorporated into the standard jazz repertoire. In addition to being a prolific songwriter, Jobim also was a compelling concert performer.
