Highway 61 Revisted - The Bob Dylan Tribute Band

There are multiple tribute bands out there covering The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Bruce Springsteen. But, there is only one band with the mojo to cover Bob Dylan. Highway 61 Revisited, led by Joel Gilbert as Bob complete in black leather, polka dot shirt, and red Fender guitar, rocked the historic Sellersville Theatre on Saturday May 23. What a great way to get the summer music season started!

Fronting a 5 piece band, that included Winston Watson on drums and Rob Stoner on bass, Gilbert and crew tore through many songs from Dylan's career. Scarlett Rivera on violin was not at this gig, although she was expected to rejoin the band in NYC two nights later. Highlights were numerous. Highway 61 Revisited present their songs with great respect to Bob and their high energy and rockin boots make for a great live experience! Highlights included 'Gotta Serve Somebody', 'Every Grain of Sand', 'I Want You', 'Subterranean Homesick Blues', and a great workout on 'Shot of Love'. Mellow numbers included 'Love Minus Zero - No Limit' and 'Just Like A Woman'. The encore was 'Like A Rolling Stone' and everyone went home feeling good. A very solid 2 1/2 hour set by a tight band.

This was my first concert at the Sellersville Theatre. What a treasure and only 68 miles from Hackettstown, just South of Quakertown. The theatre was built in 1894 and has been restored. Seating 300 with some tables down front for subscribers, the Sellersville Theatre presents live music year round.

Highway 61 Revisited will be back in the WNTI area on Saturday July 18 at the beautiful State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Showtime is 8 PM. The State Theatre is located at 15 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick. Get more information and tickets by phone at 732-246-7469. Their Web-Site is statetheatrenj.org. Although Bob Dylan is touring this summer, his ticket prices are higher than what you will pay to see Highway 61 Revisited. Also, will Bob go through the motions or deliver the goods on stage?
