Scott Acton Book Review: Tell the Truth Until They Bleed
Scott Acton Book Review: Tell the Truth Until They Bleed<br />
'We will never see the likes of these creative minds as profiled by Friedman.'

Tell the Truth Until They Bleed - Coming Clean in the Dirty World of Blues and Rock 'n' Roll In the intro to Josh Alan Friedman's new book, Tell the Truth Until They Bleed, legendary music producer Joel Dorn takes us back to when the music industry changed. "The record companies became a real business. It had been this magnificent cottage industry from its inception - all of a sudden music became a part of everybody's business." Like yesterday when my supermarket had to play Phil Collins music while I did the grocery thing!! Yes, things have changed.

These are some of the last great untold stories of the music business. 15 music profiles, ranging from the sordid to the hilarious, written from the inside looking out. Starting with the legendary songwriting team of Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller, Friedman takes us inside their creative genius and their love of Blues and R and B. The Hound dog controversy between Big Mama Thorton and Elvis is one of the highlights as are Jerry Lieber's comments on Bob Dylan and singer/songwriters.

Other musicians/songwriters profiled include Doc Pomus, Mose Alison, Keith Ferguson, and David Fathead Newman. Another standout chapter is 'Mr. Nobody' Friedman's hilarious recollection of his brief time as Ronnie Spector's boyfriend and valet. Gives Diva a whole new meaning!

Josh Alan Friedman, author of' the bestselling 'Tales of Times Square,' digs deep into the music business, helping to separate legend from fact. We will never see the likes of these creative minds as profiled by Friedman. Highly recommended.
