Concert Review: <br>Chicago Blues legend Eddy 'The Chief' Clearwater Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater
Saturday night April 12, 2008 the Stanhope House came to life as it was in the past. Chicago Blues legend Eddy 'The Chief' Clearwater graced the stage at The House after being away for many years.

At the age of 72, Eddy 'The Chief' Clearwater is one of the last of the original Chicago Bluesmen still performing locally, nationally, and internationally.

After his back up band warmed up the crowd with a few tunes of their own, 'The Chief' strutted in the doors and onto the stage. His left handed guitar slung around his shoulder, bright peacock blue satin cowboy style shirt and white buck shoes set the tone for the evening; let's party and have a good time!

Eddy has a new release on Alligator Records titled West Side Strut and he incorporated many of the songs from in between his classic tunes. A few times during the evening he stepped off stage to play a solo rift and dance with the ladies a little closer. He even managed to still play his guitar behind his head during two of the songs, never missing a note!

The energy was high on stage and off as the audience clapped and cheered for the star of the evening. Eddy even threw in a few Chuck Berry songs for good measure. I danced so much I had to take my shoes off in the car on the way home.

Evenings like this are magical experiences and prove a few things; first of all that age is only a number and if you still have the music in your soul, you can rock and roll. Second; that the Stanhope House has been re-born thanks to Matt Angus and everyone at Black Potatoe Entertainment. For that we all thank you.
